DANCE WITH MONIKA
MOVE YOUR FEET TO THE BEAT!!!
MOVE YOUR FEET TO THE BEAT!!!
I was born in Wroclaw, Poland. I started dancing ballet at the age of 2 for several years but then a health issue put my passion on hold. After surgery I couldn't dance or do any sports for a while. When I got the ok to resume, I thought I could try my talents in a little bit of a different direction. Therefore, I chose ice dancing. I trained in figure skating and speed skating at the same time and achieved some very successful trophys. One day, my community club I belonged to, had a dance show, where they had kids my age performing for the public. That day changed my interest into Ballroom and Latin Dancing, and this is where it all started. I've been dancing in 10-Dances ever since and have competed in many competitions in Poland and other countries in Europe. After moving to the US, I became a professional competitor and instructor for 30+ years. My work helped me travel around the US where I have won many championship titles with my dance partners. I enjoy teaching and sharing this love of a beautiful art with my students and look forward to doing so in the future.
At Dance with Monika, I started with the goal of providing the best services to my customers. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, I have established myself as a trusted teacher/coach that delivers quality every time.

NEW!!! "Rhythm for Sight"
I am proud to announce my new dance lesson for visually impaired individuals for the very first time . Just because you can't see doesn't mean you can't move. I'm one of the first teachers in the Bay Area who teach lessons for the blind.
How did it begin?
One day, a very dear friend of mine, Dr. MING WANG from Nashville TN, who happens to be THE BEST lasik eye surgeon in the World, invited me to his very first foundraiser party called "Eye Ball", where I had the pleasure to meet many of his patients who came from different parts of the world to get the chance to see again. During that party I asked one of those blind patients to dance. He was very shocked when I did it. I told him to trust me and we went on to the dance floor. With my guidance, he could move around with no problem (he had never danced before in his life). There was a smile and tears in he's wife's eyes. He was in seventh heaven. I was so happy that I could be part of their joy. It was an experience of a life time, which gave me an idea, why not blind dancers? Don't they deserve happines? Can't they enjoy life like people with sight? It will help them overcome their fears and problems.
Since then, I began to devote myself to people with disabilities. In the future, I'll be adding dance lessons for individuals in wheelchairs as well.
Thank you very much for the great site and the access to some very impressive online coaching. My wife and I have really enjoyed learning from new technology. As you can imagine in Alabama, we do not have access to as many coaches as some of you guys in different parts of the country. Although we catch many coaches at events and such, Monika's videos have been very helpful to learn some great technique.
We are just now crossing into the ballroom world from the West Coast Swing circuit and I formerly danced in UCWDC country western. My wife and I compete theater arts at NDCA, NASDE, and at some of the hustle events.
In a weird way, Monika has been like an unofficial coach for us. She has helped us with many things for our on the floor dancing when we are busy not being in lifts. We are working hard with our on the floor dancing and this site has really allowed us to take new knowledge into our routines, lessons with other pro's, and to other things in dance we do. Many of our routines have Monika's influence
Thank you very much for the video's.

Monika is very talented in overall teaching and coaching of students in various dance routines and moves. Initially I did not really catch onto dancing but have now taken a good interest in dances that I would not have done before. She is well versed and knows how to bring together a class, but at the same time give individual attention to each and everyone of her students. Monika knows and sees all so can’t just go through the motions. She seriously wants to make one a better dancer and makes the classes fun whether it’s group or private. Great instructor all around.

Monika is a superb teacher, who can professionally train her students from beginner to competitive level. She is always well
organized and prepared for her classes, be it group or private. Her detailed basic fundamental technique training with lots of
drilling is particular attractive. She really can motivate her students with her passion of dancing to achieve their individual goal.
Dont miss it!

Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, Monika has been teaching Zoom based weekly International ballroom dance group lessons. Her classes in the Waltz, Chacha, and Jive have focused on the details of the basic fundamental techniques. I really appreciated her personal attention and constructive critique that she provided. She would closely observe each of the individual students and then give individualized improvement ideas. She also provided exercises and drills to help ingrain the correct posture, movements and timing. Her constant reinforcement of fundamental technique was very helpful in the learning process.
Monika’s detailed understanding of both the leader and follower steps enabled her to teach both parts. By having us learn both lead and follow in the waltz, I now have a better understanding of what my partner would be doing and how I can better partner and lead.
Monika made adjustments to ensure that her lessons worked well in the online format where space was limited and partner dancing was not always available.
Overall, Monika’s lessons have greatly improved my dancing and I look forward to future online and in person classes with her.

Dance is, in general terms, human movement with an implied purpose such as the communication of an aesthetic or emotional idea, participation with music, and/or the achievement of certain mind-body states, sometimes spiritual-mystical ones, sometimes as simple as body fitness.
3 PS. What more suitable time to mention this important subject of Posture, Poise and Presentation.
What is Good Posture?..That is a million dollar Question! As we have evolved from lower forms of life, the Human Species have gained an Upright Posture. So, it may be said that Posture is "How we carry our Bodies". It is like stacking up dominos, one on top of the other and how well we can do it. The most important domino units we have are our Vertebrae in our Spinal Column. In other words, "Keep your Back" and you have a good posture.
Posture of course is not static: You have a Sitting Posture and a Lying Down Posture and all forms in between. Pay attention to your Back while you are driving or working on the desk. Easier said than done... hahaha.
Poise: One dictionary defined it as "mental composure and good balance". Poise, in dancing, can be defined as follows. "It is the distribution of weight consistent with the dance position at a particular time maintaining proper balance and shape". So Lady has her own poise Left and usually she is poised back to the left from waist up and Man his own left, more or less neutral. Some times we have more weight in our heels and then sometimes more in the toes. So Poise is constantly changing according to the situation.
Presentation: So in addition to the above, there is more to "Presentation". Of course here comes the Personality, the Dress and Costume, Grooming and the interpersonal relationship of the dancing couple. These are only a few of the attributes that I can think of. I think being natural and presenting your own best seems to be the answer
private lessons are scheduled thru out the week except Sundays.
my technique group classes are on Saturdays 11:15am-12:15pm (every 2 months different dance)
